Room Parent Details

Interested in being more involved in your student’s individual class? Become a Room Parent!

The Room Parent serves as a liaison between your classroom teacher and student’s parents. The Room Parent works with the teacher to coordinate and facilitate classroom activities, events, and communications throughout the school year. This is a volunteer position within the Parent Teacher Group (PTG), and Room Parents will work with the PTG Board to ensure all classes have the latest information on PTG events and programs.

What specifically does the Room Parent do?

Room Parent Duties may Include:

  • Planning and/or attending classroom parties and events to assist the teacher as needed.
  • Communicating with your student’s teacher to discuss upcoming events, projects, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Helping coordinate and recruit parent volunteers for classroom activities and events.
  • Serving as a point of contact for classroom parents and providing them with important information about classroom activities, school-wide events, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Helping organize and facilitate classroom fundraising efforts, as requested by the PTG Board.
  • Assist the teacher with administrative tasks such as photocopying, assembling classroom materials, and organizing classroom supplies.
  • Attending PTG meetings as requested by the PTG Board.

Reminder: in order to volunteer in the classroom, volunteers must get a background check and be fingerprinted through Livescan.
